Fashion's Slimane Buys
Fashion photographer and designer Hedi Slimane has paid $4.1 million for a house in Beverly Hills, Calif., about 25% off the original asking price.
The avant-garde menswear designer, who left the Christian Dior fashion house in 2007, toured the midcentury modern house when it went up for sale for $5.5 million more than a year ago, a person familiar with the matter says. But Mr. Slimane waited for a price decline before buying.
In Trousdale Estates, an enclave with 24-hour patrols, the single-story 1961 house of about 4,500 square feet has five bedrooms and five baths on a 20,000-square-foot lot. Renovated in a clean-lined modern style, the home has a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, terrazzo floors, an irregularly shaped pool and bamboo hedges. There's also a three-car garage.
Mr. Slimane, known for spearheading slim-fitting men's clothes in the last decade, couldn't be reached for comment. Drew Mandile and Brooke Knapp, of Sotheby's International Realty, had the listing. Aaron Kirman, of Hilton & Hyland/Christie's Great Estates, represented Mr. Slimane.
